We have conducted continuously monthly medical clinics without any lapse for the past 22\u00a0years numbering over 482. We are probably the society which has conducted the largest number of free medical clinic in the Island ! A proud achievement indeed.<\/p>\n<p>Wherever possible, these medical clinics have been conducted in the village temple in an effort to bring the community closer to the temple.\u00a0 Our aim has been to make the village temple the nerve centre for all activities of the community. Viz, religious, educational, cultural and social service projects.<\/p>\n<p>Before the commencement of the medical clinics, a &#8220;Jana Hamuva&#8221; or public meeting is held where the people are informed about the following<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Objectives and aims our\u00a0 association &#8211; Success Colombo<\/li>\n<li>Importance of protecting and fostering Buddhism in Sri Lanka<\/li>\n<li>Educating people about common methods adopted by numerous evangalical association operating in SriLanka under the guise of community service but whose main objective is to convert poor Buddhists to Christianity<\/li>\n<li>Health education talks and informing people about heath hazards of smoking tobacco, consumption of alcohol, betel chewing<\/li>\n<li>Advice about infant feeding and bringing up children to become useful and patriotic citizens<\/li>\n<li>Reminding the people about the glorious victory obtained by our armed forces against LTTE and our eternal gratitude to our President, Defence Sectary, The Army, Navy, Air force, Police, STF (Special Task Force) and Civil Defence force for having achieved this unique victory<\/li>\n<li>Pansil is observed before starting the Jana Hamuva followed by two minutes spent in silent remembrance of those who have sacrificed their lives in the defence of our motherland.\u00a0 Jana Hamuva ends with the Ranavirusong followed by singing of the national anthem<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the medical clinics, patients are examined for a variety of illnesses and free medicines supplied. The patients are referred to district or provincial hospitals whenever necessary. In addition, spectacles are often provided for the visually disabled.
